ATM Safety

  1. Utilize ATMs only at secure locations.
  2. Avoid being alone. Try to use ATMs with others around or a friend.
  3. Look around. If you feel uncomfortable or suspicious... leave or come back later.
  4. Have your ATM card out of your wallet/purse before approaching the ATM for use.
  5. Don't keep your PIN on your card or in your wallet/purse.
  6. Withdraw only small amounts of cash.
  7. When entering your PIN shield the keypad with your body or hand.
  8. Never give your PIN out. A helpful stranger could be an identity thief.
  9. Put your cash away immediately before leaving the ATM. Do not count the cash at the ATM.
  10. Always take your receipt.
  11. Avoid unsecure, unlit and poorly placed ATMs.
  12. If you think you are being followed, go to a well populated area and call the police.
  13. If confronted by a robber, don't argue, give the money to the robber. Take note of their description.
  14. Do not follow a robber. Money is never worth getting hurt over.
  15. If robbed, leave the area as soon as it's safe to do so, and report the incident to the police.

Night Deposit Safety

  1. If you must exit your vehicle park as close to the Night Depository as possible.
  2. Avoid being alone. Try to use a Night Depository with others around or a friend.
  3. Look around. If you feel uncomfortable or suspicious... leave or come back later.
  4. Prepare your night deposit before going to the bank.
  5. Try not to make your deposit at the same time every day, use a variable schedule if possible.
  6. Make a record of your night deposit at home, never the bank.
  7. Never show your night deposit. Always keep it hidden until you are able to make the deposit.
  8. If you must use a Night Depository at night, find a well lit Night Depository with no surrounding shrubbery.
  9. If you think you are being followed, go to a well populated area and call the police.
  10. If confronted by a robber. Don't argue, give the money to the robber. Take note of their description.
  11. Do not follow a robber. Money is never worth getting hurt over.
  12. If robbed, leave the area as soon as it's safe to do so, and report the incident to the police.
